Konstantin Chaykin Unveils the “Matroskin the Cat” Wristmon

Konstantin Chaykin continues to expand his eccentric Wristmon universe, this time drawing inspiration from one of Russia’s most beloved animated characters. Created in collaboration with Soyuzmultfilm Animation Studio, the new “Matroskin the Cat” transforms the striped feline from Eduard Uspensky’s classic stories into a mechanical caricature rendered in stainless steel and guilloché. The release follows a 2025 survey marking Russian Animation Day, where Matroskin reportedly emerged as the country’s favourite animated character.

As with other Wristmon creations from the independent Russian watchmaker, the watch leans heavily into expressive design. The character’s eyes display the hours and minutes through rotating discs, while Chaykin’s signature smiling moonphase complication forms the mouth. For the first time in the Wristmon collection, the cat’s whiskers extend beyond the dial itself and continue onto the bezel through guilloché relief decoration. The 40mm stainless steel case also incorporates feline-inspired lugs shaped like ears, while the striped leather strap completes the cartoon aesthetic without abandoning the detailed finishing expected from the brand.
