Titanium Micro Screwdriver for Watch Lovers

If you live and breathe pocket tools, the Slidecatch is the sort of small, smart piece of hardware that earns a permanent spot in your daily carry. At first glance it reads like a minimalist blade, sleek, retractable and satisfying to operate but what you actually get is a precision micro screwdriver platform. It’s built around a simple, brilliant idea: pack the functionality of a compact bit driver and tailor it specifically for watches and other small gear tasks, then do it in full titanium.

Key Features of The Slidecatch

The Slidecatch is all Titanium, which gives it the best of both worlds: lightweight for pocket carry, and durable enough to survive the real work you expect from an EDC tool. The black or full titanium finish is understated and classy, which pairs nicely with the tool’s tight, machined lines. It’s slim and unobtrusive in the pocket, but when you press it into service the Slidecatch feels tactile and purposeful, the sort of object that makes fiddling with tiny screws actually enjoyable.

Functionally, it’s built around standard 4mm hex bits, so you’re not locked into a proprietary ecosystem. That means you can load it with watchmaker bits, torx, hex, or any small profile driver you need for camera plates, knife pivot/scales screws, or eyeglasses. The inclusion of custom precision watch bits and the ability to use spring bar style tools is what sets this tool apart for watch enthusiasts. Swapping straps, adjusting endlinks, and tuning micro screws becomes faster and more convenient without hauling a full set of watchmaker gear.

Operation is intuitive. The Slidecatch’s mechanism lets the bit retract and lock in a way that mimics a blade deployment, giving you quick single-handed access while protecting the bit and pocket when stowed. The ergonomics are surprisingly well considered for such a tiny tool: there’s enough grip to apply torque without feeling like you’ll slip, and the profile provides decent leverage for delicate work. It’s clearly designed for the kinds of precision tasks where control matters more than brute force.

What I like most is the mindset behind utilitarianism, but not joyless. This isn’t purely a tool-for-tool’s-sake; it’s a carefully crafted EDC item that wants to be handled. That tactile satisfaction, combined with titanium’s patina over time, makes the Slidecatch feel like something that will age into fondness rather than frustration.

A few practical notes: because it accepts standard 4mm hex bits, you can tailor your bit loadout to your own workflow camera plates and lenses, knife pivot/scale screws or the specific sizes used in your watches.

Final Thoughts

The Slidecatch isn’t trying to replace your full workshop. It’s a daily companion for light, precise tasks, the sort of micro tool that saves time and fits cleanly into life without drama. If you’re a maker, knife enthusiast, photographer, or watch collector who values small form ingenuity, this is a compelling pick. For anyone who enjoys well made titanium EDC with practical versatility and a bit of fun in the pocket, the Slidecatch is worth checking out.

The Slidecatch will be available directly from the brand website for $69 USD.

  1. I saw an ad for this tool on instagram and naturally thought it was cool. That being said, they also had one of their watches pictured alongside it, (ocean guard I believe) and woe! Awesome vintage vibes with unique color combinations. I’d love to see them covered at some point as they hadn’t previously been on my radar.
