Limited Edition
Hanhart has always been a favourite of The Calibrated Wrist. The Thermosphere is no exception. Hanhart has always been a mainstay in the world of purpose-built tool watches, releasing interesting timepieces with even cooler backstories. After the introduction of the Aquasphere in 2024, the brand has been adding limited versions that are keeping the model range fresh and innovative. The addition of the new Thermosphere to their limited editions extends that creativity and uniqueness Hanhart has come to be known for.

Key Features of the Hanhart Thermosphere
Fire-born functionality
The Thermosphere was developed in collaboration with the Baden-Württemberg State Firefighters Association, and is inspired by a breathing apparatus monitoring procedure used by the fire services. While the watches are built to track time and use of resources during their respective jobs, their primary environments are polar opposites. Fire vs Water. The markers on the bezel are triangular and represent the operational timing of the breathing apparatus used in firefighting. These symbols will indicate to the wearer time elapsed during an operation as well as oxygen remaining. These are so meticulously designed, there is even the distinction between a single cylinder set up and dual cylinder set up. This is the type of stuff that gets us watch nerds excited.

Beauty in purpose
The styling of this watch is something to behold, both visually and practically. The contrasting colours of blue, yellow, and white make for a bold statement piece clearly aimed at high accuracy visibility in low light situations. The hands, markers, and bezel are done in Swiss Super-Luminova for ultimate legibility in absolute darkness. Its heritage is displayed proudly through the Baden-Württemberg Firefighters Association emblem in bright red on the dial, and a more subtle nod with “112”, being the European emergency phone number, at the 12 o’clock position. This also happens to be the number of limited models they will be putting out.

When choosing your model, you can choose between the hook-style strap or the stainless steel bracelet. The Hookstrap™ textile strap helps embody the tool watch nature of this piece, with elastic construction to allow easy adjustment and bonding to your wrist no matter the situation. It also features a scratch resistant sapphire crystal and also retains its dive watch water resistance rating of 300m, making it a true GADA watch.

Calibre
Hanhart have given the Thermosphere the beating heart of the SW-200-1 or Soprod P024, depending on production availability. In honoring German precision and punctuality, the movements are regulated to 0 to +8 seconds per day, averaged over six positions. Beyond the mission and critical timing in them, Hanhart never wants you to be late because of their timepieces. (This will just show me how late I am, whoops)

Final thoughts
The Thermosphere is a fun, engaging addition to Hanhart’s lineup. Considering the Aquasphere lineup is so new, we are very happy to see these types of limited editions make their way in. The recipe for this iteration remains the same as the base but adds some heat (see what I did there) making a very compelling, bold offering to an already fantastic watch. It truly shows the brand’s dedication to building purpose made tool watches, that will keep its users on time and potentially be saving lives.
This release feels very precise, very German. The bold colour choices are still tasteful and subdued without losing their impact as effective tools for telling time. The smallest details have been considered, precision prioritized, and yet still accomplishes a fun and refreshing feel to it. Though we have not had this watch in hand yet, we look forward to seeing it on all of your wrists and out in its natural environment.

Final Thoughts & Pricing
The Thermosphere will be available starting June 18th 2026. Pricing will be set at €1,540 including tax (approx $2440 CAD). Considering the competition in this price range, the Hanhart punches well above its weight with its Swiss movement, tight regulation parameters, and DIN certification, along with the fact it carries a strong unique story in this model.
