OMEGA Seamaster Diver 300M Chronograph 007 First Light Introduced

By Brent Robillard

Bond, But Not as We Know Him

Let’s start here: I am not a gamer. Not really. My adult gaming experience has largely consisted of trying to remember guitar chords in Rocksmith or leading the Gunners to another disappointing FIFA season. Yet somehow, OMEGA has still managed to trigger a completely unreasonable level of excitement in me with its newest James Bond release.

Because this thing? This thing is dangerous.

Not in the usual Bond sense either. Not laser-watch dangerous. Financially dangerous. “I absolutely do not need another dive watch, but now I’m mentally rearranging the watch box at 2 a.m.” dangerous.

Collab with IO Interactive and Amazon MGM Studios

OMEGA has unveiled the new Seamaster Diver 300M Chronograph 007 First Light, a watch tied not to a film appearance, but to the upcoming video game 007 First Light, developed by IO Interactive and Amazon MGM Studios. But despite its lack of cinematic chops, it may be one of the most interesting Bond-adjacent releases the brand has done in years.

Part of that comes down to the fact that OMEGA didn’t simply slap a logo on an existing Seamaster and call it a day. The watch is integrated directly into the gameplay itself. In the game, Bond’s Seamaster features a hacking device and a laser-equipped strap that players use during missions. It’s wonderfully absurd in exactly the right Bond way–but don’t expect to find those features on your wrist.

More importantly, though, the watch itself looks fantastic. At least in renders.

Seamaster Diver 300M

The Seamaster Diver 300M line is already my favourite collection in OMEGA’s modern catalogue. I’ve long maintained that the contemporary Diver 300M manages to balance utility, character, and recognizability better than almost anything else in the luxury dive category. And I own the neo-vintage 2531.80. This new version somehow pushes even further into that sweet spot.

At 44mm in stainless steel, it’s not feigning restraint. And that will be an issue for many with smaller wrist. This is a full-bodied Seamaster chronograph with presence (I believe a first for dear James?). But the details are what really pull me in. The polished black ceramic bezel with white enamel scale. The ceramic pushers. The black wave dial. The restrained use of bronze gold around the 3 o’clock subdial (like a little wink from Bond, himself) and chronograph seconds hand. The red Seamaster text..

It certainly feels cinematic.

And that NATO strap? Insert “chef’s kiss.”

OMEGA says the black, grey, and beige colourway draws inspiration from the strap seen in No Time to Die, though the pattern has been reworked specifically for the game universe. I see a little Dr. No in there, too. But whatever the inspiration, it absolutely works here. The beige centre stripe paired with the dark case accents gives the watch a slightly tactical feel.

Bond Watches

Bond watches have always worked best when they still feel like watches first. The gadget fantasy is part of the fun, but nobody actually wants a novelty prop on the wrist. At least nobody seriously into watches. This still feels entirely wearable. Entirely OMEGA. It just happens to exist inside a fictional espionage universe as well. Which is neither here not there to me, actually.

Mechanically, the watch is powered by OMEGA’s Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 9900, visible through the sapphire caseback alongside a metallized 007 First Light logo. The movement remains one of the strongest arguments for the Seamaster chronograph platform in general: accurate, anti-magnetic, robust, and genuinely pleasant to use in daily wear.

And perhaps that’s what makes this release so compelling to me.

It would have been very easy for OMEGA to lean fully into gamer culture aesthetics here. Neon accents. Over-designed packaging. Forced futuristic styling. Instead, they produced something that still feels grounded in the broader Seamaster lineage while embracing a different kind of Bond storytelling.

No tuxedo required.

Final Thoughts & Pricing

The 007 First Light game launches globally on May 27th, introducing players to a 26-year-old Bond in a reimagined origin story. I may or may not end up playing it. Probably not. But the watch? The watch I absolutely want to see in the metal as soon as possible.

Which is unfortunate for my wallet.

The OMEGA Seamaster Diver 300M Chronograph 007 First Light retails for $12,600 CAD ($9,400 USD). See the brand website for further details.
