From Sky to Abyss: A Tool Watch for the Deep, the Bold, and the Punctual
At The Calibrated Wrist, we’ve long been admirers of Hanhart’s no-nonsense pilot chronographs—those purpose-built instruments where tradition meets tactility. So when we heard Hanhart was expanding its dive collection with the Aquasphere Ocean Fade, we were intrigued. While we haven’t yet had hands on, here’s what we know!

To be clear: this is not just a pretty face with a fading blue-to-black dial. It’s a proper tool watch—30 BAR water resistance, ISO dive-ready functionality, and construction that would make a submarine jealous. But it’s also a Hanhart, which means it balances military-grade purpose with aesthetic precision.
The Ocean Fade dial is a standout—an ombré gradient from bright blue to abyssal black that doesn’t just look good in photos, but offers practical contrast underwater. It’s a clever nod to freedivers like Fabio Tunno, who live in that liminal space between crushing darkness and the life-giving light of the surface. The design makes you feel that journey with every glance.

Key Features of the Hanhart Aquasphere Ocean Fade
The Aquasphere Ocean Fade measures a purposeful 42mm across and sits 12.95mm high on the wrist, with a 49mm lug-to-lug that strikes a clean balance between wrist presence and wearability. The brushed and polished stainless steel case features Hanhart’s signature fluted bezel—available in black or blue ceramic—with a red marker and lumed triangle, numerals, and indices in Super-LumiNova® C1 GL X2. A screw-down crown marked with Hanhart’s modern “h” sits between substantial crown guards, while a helium valve and a 30 bar (300 metre) water resistance rating make it more than ready for saturation dives.
Flip the watch over and you’ll find a screw-down case back embossed with a detailed underwater motif and engraved with a unique serial number. The entire package is topped with a convex sapphire crystal that has been internally anti-reflective coated to minimize glare—above or below the surface.

New rubber strap
The rubber strap is worth a closer look too. New to the collection, this strap is more than just a comfortable option—it’s functional, easy to clean, and designed to withstand the real-world rigors of diving. Its folding clasp promises a tactile pleasure, and the subtle Hanhart embossing keeps the aesthetic cohesive.

Options abound
Even more, the Aquasphere Ocean Fade is all about options. Mix and match bezel and strap choices, from sporty rubber to stainless steel or the Hook Strap™, and you get eight different configurations—each one a different kind of statement.

Calibrated for precision
Inside beats a Top Grade Swiss Soprod P024 movement that has been regulated to Hanhart’s own standards: 0 to +8 seconds per day, no minus deviation allowed. That may not sound like much, but it reflects a distinctly German mindset—punctuality is paramount, and no Hanhart wearer should ever be late due to lagging seconds.

Final Thoughts
In short: the Aquasphere Ocean Fade is more than a new colourway. It’s a statement of intent from Hanhart, showing they can apply the same precision, toughness, and design fluency that define their chronographs to the aquatic realm as well. This isn’t just a dive watch. It’s a Hanhart dive watch. And we’re all in.

Not a brand I would associate with dive watches, but this looks great
