HAIM Viajero Worldtimer

Spanish for traveler

Following close upon the heels of its classy Legacy Automatic, the Haim Watch Company is ready to take on the world. The inaugural Viajero Worldtimer is a jump into deep horological waters for the brand; however, founder Zakir Miah has always believed “that a finely crafted timepiece should adorn every wrist.” The Viajero aims to make this level of horology (and complication) accessible to a wider audience, while contributing to the growth of American watchmaking.

While the timepiece may come in a value-driven package, it does not lack for refinement. Its features and craftsmanship speak of watch well above its price point. Viajero, which is Spanish for ‘traveler,’ might be just what the frugal jet set has been looking for.

Key Features of the HAIM Viajero Worldtimer

The Viajero sports a newly redesigned, stainless steel case, hand-finished in a heavy polish, with complementary brushed detailing on the bezel. The effect is minimalist and focuses attention on the pièce de résistance–its dial. It measures 38.5mm in diameter and a very restrained 45.5mm lug to lug. Despite the worldtimer function, the watch maintains a relatively slim profile of 12mm, as well. The cornes de vache lugs, offer up a subtle sense of flair and support the brand ethos of honoring watchmaking traditions in modern reinterpretations. With a push/pull crown and exhibition case back, it is water resistant to 50m.

Harmonious dial design @calibre321

The dial can not help but provide a sense of depth–with its broad, angled worldtimer chapter ring, its dual-tone 24-hour index, and the captivating topographic world map. The earthy hues and textures are counter-balanced by the sophisticated gold-coloured, applied markers and “protractor-shaped” hands. The latter is a reference to map plotting techniques and the measurement of distance. In all, the dial has a very harmonious feel. And while we are featuring the turquoise–or Water–variation here, the HAIM Viajero is also available in Air (blue) and Land (green) colourways. Each features a sapphire crystal with 5 layers of anti-reflective coating.

The exhibition case back offers up an equally pleasant visual display–particularly that of its custom made Atlas rotor. The NH34A underneath is regulated to +/- 10 seconds and provides a 41-hour power reserve, as well as GMT functionality.

quick-release spring bars. It also has the brand’s signature Art Deco-inspired tang buckle. A beads of rice bracelet is available as an option.

Sophisticated wrist presence @calibre321

Final Thoughts

The HAIM Viajero Worldtimer is the ultimate conversation piece. It has a sophisticated wrist presence and is a delight to look at. The dial–which was designed by Data Scientist Oğuzhan Köse, and licensed to HAIM–is the sort of rendering you would expect in a much more expensive watch. The thoughtful additions of the protractor hands and the gold-coloured indices–the cornes de vache lugs–lend the timepiece a certain air of elegance, as well. If you are in the market for something very different, with a sense of panache, look no further than the HAIM Viajero.

Pricing & Availability

The HAIM Viajero retails for $700USD ($958CAD), and is available for pre-order through the brand website.
