Formex has introduced the AirField Automatic 40mm, an aviation-inspired extension of its titanium Field collection. The new model retains the established 40mm case architecture while adding a cockpit-influenced dial, broad sword-shaped hands and the traditional triangle-and-two-dot orientation marker at 12 o’clock. Four dial colours will be offered: Desert Sand, Horizon Blue, Jet Black and Tarmac Grey.
The Grade 2 titanium case measures 10.5 mm thick and 48 mm from lug to lug, with a total watch-head weight of 54 grams. A hardening treatment raises the surface hardness to approximately 900 Vickers, while a screw-down crown and 150 metres of water resistance support its everyday tool-watch credentials. The finely grained dial features recessed, hand-filled Arabic numerals, a sloped chapter ring and a bevelled date window with a colour-matched date disc. A sapphire crystal protects the display, while the solid caseback carries an engraving of a radial aircraft engine and propeller.

Power comes from the updated Swiss-made Sellita SW200-2 Power+ automatic movement, operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour and delivering an extended 65-hour power reserve. The Formex AirField is available on a washable nylon Velcro strap or a leather strap fitted with the brand’s carbon-fibre deployant clasp and 7 mm fine-adjustment system. Pricing begins at CHF 830, US$1,060 or C$1,300 on nylon, rising to CHF 970, US$1,200 or C$1,450 on leather. Pre-orders open September 24, with deliveries expected to begin at the end of October 2026.
