Formex has updated its best-selling Essence 39 Automatic COSC, bringing several technical developments from elsewhere in the Essence family to the collection’s compact 39 mm format. The familiar case architecture and proportions remain unchanged, but the latest generation gains a screw-down crown, an upgraded Sellita SW200-2 Power+ movement and a new micro-adjustable bracelet clasp. The watch remains 39 mm in diameter, 10.5 mm thick and 45.5 mm lug-to-lug, with 100 metres of water resistance.

Inside is the new COSC-certified Sellita SW200-2 Power+, operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour and offering an increased 65-hour power reserve. Formex has also incorporated a screw-down crown while retaining its patented Case Suspension System, a combination previously introduced on the Essence Ceramica Skeleton COSC 41 mm. On bracelet-equipped models, the new butterfly clasp provides 6 mm of tool-free adjustment in 3 mm increments and can be adjusted directly on the wrist without opening the clasp.

The refreshed Essence 39 arrives with three dial choices. Formex’s signature Blue remains in the collection, joined by a new Alpine White with blued hands and indices and a Radiant Bronze dial shared with the Reef collection. Each features the Essence’s CNC-milled horizontal grooves, applied indices, faceted hands filled with BGW9 Super-LumiNova and a colour-matched date wheel positioned at six o’clock.

The Formex Essence 39 Automatic COSC is priced from CHF 1,470 / $1,850 USD / $2,270 CAD on strap and CHF 1,570 / $1,980 USD / $2,470 CAD on stainless steel bracelet. Orders open today (August 27, 2026), with deliveries expected to begin in October.
