British watchmaker Elliot Brown has unveiled the California Arne Collection, a quartet of colourful limited-edition field watches that pair one of horology’s most recognisable dial layouts with a distinctly West Coast aesthetic. Inspired by the landscapes, culture, and nostalgia of 1980s California, the four new references reinterpret the historic California dial while retaining the robust engineering expected of the Dorset-based manufacturer.

Each model is built around Elliot Brown’s 38mm Arne platform, featuring a stainless steel case, domed anti-reflective sapphire crystal, triple-sealed screw-down crown, 200 metres of water resistance, and sailcloth straps matched to each colourway. The collection comprises Phantom Horizon, with subtle nods to arcade games and the Golden Gate Bridge; Ocean Ombré, inspired by Pacific sunsets; The Woodie, celebrating California’s iconic surf wagons; and Psychedelic Trip, which embraces the bold colours and creative spirit of the era.
Launching on 17 July through Elliot Brown’s website, each California Arne is limited to just 75 individually numbered pieces. According to co-founder Ian Elliot, the collection aims to balance the California dial’s military heritage with a more optimistic and expressive approach, creating watches designed to accompany everyday adventures while bringing a smile to the wearer’s face.
