Key Features of the Laco Sport DLC
The durable case comes in two sizes: 39mm and 42mm. It features a screw-down case back and crown, a double-domed, scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, and a ceramic, unidirectional dive bezel. Water resistant to a solid 300m, the watch is also relatively slender, at 13mm.
Like the earlier models, the Laco Sport DLC is rendered in 316L stainless steel; however, this time around it sports a “diamond-like-carbon” coating. Aesthetically, DLC gives the watch that “blacker-than-black” stealthy, tactical appearance. Practically speaking, it means that the watch benefits from increased durability, scratch resistance, and anti-corrosive properties, as well. While the coating is mere microns in thickness, the carbon solids applied during the PVD process means the black colouring stays put.
As with the case finishing, the double-domed sapphire crystal stands out with its remarkable hardness, making it virtually resistant to scratches. With a Mohs hardness rating of 9, it is surpassed only by diamonds, ensuring that the dome remains clear and pristine.
All iterations of the Laco Sport DLC collection feature a black dial with white Arabic numerals for optimal contrast and readability. Onto this, Laco have added vibrant colour accents: Green (Amazonas), Blue (Atlantik), and Orange (Himalaya and Mojave). The bezel, as well as the indexes and minute hand, are additionally coated with C3 Super-LumiNova in shades of white, green, blue, or orange, depending on the colourway.
Beneath the unique case back relief, the precise automatic Laco 200 movement–based on the Sellita SW200 calibre—beats away at 4Hz. It offers a 38-hour power reserve and, as an Elaboré-grade version, has been adjusted in three positions with a potential accuracy of +/-7 sec/day.
While you can purchase the watch as “ready-to-wear,” from the brand website, the online configurator also allows you to mix and match the four bold colourways with various strap options: a rubber wave band, a rubber NATO strap, or a DLC bracelet.
