The All New Baltic Prismic

Baltic, a microbrand known for creations like the Aquascaphe, Bicompax, Tricompax and many other gorgeous watches, has released yet another beauty. Let me be clear: this isn’t your standard release from Baltic. Previous releases from the brand have shown vintage inspiration and aesthetic reborn into a more contemporary design. From seeing their release for Only Watch 2023 under the name Baltic Experiments, it’s no surprise that this watch is a much more modern take and is reaching out and grabbing hold of the luxury side of watch design. The watch in question is the NEW Baltic Prismic.

Baltic Prismic Watch Review

The Prismic collection (available in Purple, Green, Blue-Grey and Salmon) pulls inspiration from “cocktail” watches and features so much depth, texture, and layering that it’s easy to be captivated and lose yourself in every intricate detail. The 36mm case comprises five parts: the bezel, lugs, and caseback, crafted from stainless steel and embedded into a Grade 5 titanium case, featuring an array of metal finishing: high-polished for the upper part of the case, circular brushed for the lower part, polished lug tops and horizontally brushed sides.

The main focus is the dial. The dial design is Baltic’s take on what the modern dress watch should look like. Combining different finishing techniques and layers to the dial creates a minimal yet sophisticated design and would speak to any collector. The dial’s centre features beautiful guilloché with a grained sector dial resting on top at 6 o’clock. In addition to the already beautiful finishing, Baltic implemented high-polished “prism” indices placed upon a brushed ring.

The cherry on top are the beautifully brushed dauphine hands with polished bevels.
Powering the Prismic is something new for Baltic: the Swiss-made Peseux Calibre 7001–a mechanical movement developed by ETA, known for its rugged and robust stature.

Baltic Prismic Watch Review

Implementing a mechanical movement in the Prismic is fantastic, as it adds to the features and stays true to vintage mechanical dress watches. It also remains modern thanks to its beautiful decoration and finishes seen through the sapphire display caseback.
