It’s safe to say that Baltic is in the upper echelon of microbrands. With fantastic release after fantastic release and seeing the timepiece the brand created for OnlyWatch 2023 via Baltic Experiments, the brand has quickly shown both design and mechanical prowess.

The new releases of the Baltic MR01, Bicompax002 and HMS002 follow the same design language already seen throughout Baltic’s catalogue and previous releases, but this time through a glistening Gold PVD case. As Baltic puts it: a revisited aesthetic.

The Bicompax 002 is the chronograph model of the three new releases. The watch features a 38mm “step case.” For those who are unaware, a step case refers to the case design being a monobloc design, meaning the case is made from one piece of stainless steel. It is 47mm lug-to-lug, with a 13mm case thickness (10mm without the crystal) and powered by the always beautiful Seagull ST1901 manual winding chronograph movement.

The MR01 features a compact 36mm case with a 9.9mm thickness, 44mm lug-to-lug and a lug width of 20mm. The numbers dictate a watch of perfect proportions that will feel fantastic on the wrist. While the outer aesthetics are impressive, the most beautiful part of the MR01 is inside the watch, the Hangzhou calibre 5000 micro-rotor movement seen through the beautiful sapphire display case back.

The third release in the line of gold is the HMS002. The watch shares a similar design aesthetic with the Bicompax002 with a 38mm “step case.” It is 47mm lug-to-lug, with a 13mm case thickness (10mm without the crystal) and a 20mm lug width; the same proportions. The difference is that the HMS002 is a three-hand watch without chronograph functionality, and the ST1901 manual winding chronograph movement is replaced by the Miyota 8315 automatic.
The pricing for each model varies; the MR01 retails for 545 EUR, the Bicompax retails for 565 EUR, and the HMS002 retails for 385 EUR. For more information on the goodness of gold, check out the Baltic website.
