Have you ever taken a look at the human eye through a microscope? The architecture of a flower? These are the things I am reminded of when I look at the Nodus Unity. The brand, popular for its no-nonsense tool watches, blends beauty with utility in this latest release—and does so in a tidy little package that is sleek and discreet enough to accompany you anywhere.

Key Features of the Nodus Unity
The Nodus Unity is fashioned from 316L stainless steel and finished in a fine satin brushing. It measures 36.5mm in diameter, with a very wrist-friendly lug to lug of 43.5mm. Considering the fixed bezel and box crystal, the watch is also relatively slim at 11.3mm in height. Despite these modest proportions, the Nodus Unity maintains a robust lug width of 20mm, providing a visual athleticism that belies its size.

The stainless steel Oyster-style bracelet mitigates this with a distinct taper to 16mm at the clasp. It’s these aesthetic choices that contribute to the overall impression of balance and strength here. But the Nodus Unity does more than walk the walk, beginning with its proprietary NodeX “on-the-fly” micro-adjusting clasp—an option more often seen on much more expensive timepieces.

Ceramic Bezel Insert
In fact, the Nodus Unity surprises in many ways—including its level of uniform brushing, sharp chamfering, and highly polished index surrounds. But the pièce de résistance has to be the textured dial.
As mentioned at the outset, the best description for the pattern we find here is that of the stroma in the human iris—a sort of deeply stamped, cellular mandala emanating from the centre of dial. The colourway here, referred to as Honey Yellow, is also perfectly matched in the ceramic bezel insert. Though fixed, the bezel is reminiscent of early bakelite inserts found in mid-century divers and a has an almost liquid appearance.

It has been milled, polished, and fitted to achieve a seamless juncture with the domed sapphire crystal. This also contributes—like the lug width—to the visual illusion of size and wrist presence, despite the watch’s modest dimensions. It is also a further indicator of the brand’s maturity in watchmaking and finishing.

BGW9 SuperLumiNova
The watch has both a screw down crown and case back, aiding its 150m of water resistance. The dial elements have also been treated with BGW9 Grade A Super-LumiNova which glow a ghostly blue when fully charged.

Workhorse Movement
Nodus have opted for the Miyota 9015 as a power source. It is a workhorse movement with a 4Hz sweep and a 41-hour power reserve.
Beyond the Honey Yellow iteration featured here, the Nodus Unity is also available in Graphite Black, Topaz Blue, and Blossom Pink.

Final Thoughts
The Nodus Unity represents an evolution in the Nodus brand. It is a transformation that began with the creation of its own micro-adjusting clasp–one that it now markets to other microbrands. But in the Unity, the progression is in the finer details: superior case finishing, tighter tolerances. Here, we get what we have come to expect from Nodus–value for function. But we also get something more. The Unity is the perfect name for this timepiece, as it is a confluence utility and form. A perfect whole.
