The year of gorgeousness. Farer has had an unbelievable run over the last year. So while another gorgeous release is welcomed, it’s not surprising. This month Farer have added yet another beautiful chronograph to add to their extensive collection. Today, we’re talking about the NEW Farer Chrono-Contempo Collection.

Meet the Chrono-Contempo Collection, a thoroughly modern take on the chronograph. Inspired by the bold colours of two of London’s most vibrant streets, this new collection gives the chronograph complication a playful makeover.”

Farer has never been afraid to implement bright, bold and playful colours in their designs, and the Chrono-Contempo Collection is no exception. The Portobello (Blue/Orange) and Chalcot (Mint/Navy) feature bold colours and textured dials to parade their take on the modern chronograph. The Portobello features a navy blue waffle/grid textured dial, nested black sub-dials, and a bright “Orangina” ceramic bezel insert.

The inspiration for the Chalcot comes from big-eye chronographs, meaning the chronograph minute counter is larger than the other sub-dials. The Chalcot features a stunning textured mint green dial with matching sub-dials at 6 and 9 o’clock and a large white minute tracker at 3 o’clock. A navy blue ceramic bezel insert adds contrast with the mint green dial and caps off the design of the Chalcot.

The designs and names of all Farer collections and watches are often deeply rooted in history. The Chrono-Contempo, for its part, features names and inspiration from two of London’s most famous streets: Portobello Road and its vibrant buildings and bustling streets, and the Chalcot, refers to Chalcot Square, which is very close to the Farer office, and features a wide array of pastel-painted houses.

Farer is known for hitting the sweet spot regarding sizing and specs, and they’ve done it yet again. The Chrono-Contempo features a 38.5mm stainless steel case with a comfy and compact lug-to-lug of 43.7mm and a case thickness of 13.4mm. From a numbers perspective, this is a very compact chronograph that should feel seamless on the wrist. Not to mention the 20mm lug width and the comfortable St. Venere strap, with which it comes equipped.

Lastly, a watch doesn’t run without a strong heart, and Farer has implemented the Sellita SW510M b–an Elaboré grade hand-wound calibre with a decorated bridge and blued screws. It promises a 63-hour power reserve, and is beautifully decorated and well presented through the sapphire display case back. The Chrono-Contempo collection retails for $1,850.
