Héron Mirabel Cigar Club Edition

By Brent Robillard

A Dress Watch with a Glow-in-the-Dark Twist

There are some watches that show up with a spec sheet. And then there are watches that arrive with a scene already playing in your head. The Héron Mirabel Cigar Club Edition is absolutely the second kind.

We’ve already spent time with the standard Mirabel GMT, and what I liked about it was how it managed to feel dressy without being stiff, and playful without being gimmicky. The Cigar Club Edition takes that same formula and just warms it up. If the regular Mirabel feels like a well-lit cocktail bar, this one feels like the corner booth in a wood-panelled lounge where the lights are always turned down a little too low.

Vintage inspiration

That’s very clearly the point. Héron talks about cigar lounges, Art Deco cues, and mid-century dress watches, but what comes through on the wrist isn’t a checklist of references. It’s atmosphere. You’re not meant to think “this looks like a Bubbleback” or “this is copying an Omega CK.” You’re meant to feel like you’re wearing something that belongs to that world of warm metals, soft leather, and slightly theatrical elegance.

Key Features of the Héron Mirabel Cigar Club Edition

Painted enamel dial

The dial does most of the heavy lifting here. They call it “smoked salmon,” which sounds odd until you see it. It’s not pink, and it’s not copper. It sits right in that middle ground where it feels rich without being flashy. The gloss enamel gives it real depth, and the sector layout keeps things grounded and tidy. The applied Arabic numerals are clean and legible, but they still feel period-correct. Nothing is trying too hard.

Dimensions

Size-wise, this is exactly where a dress-leaning watch like this should be. At 37.5mm with a 43.5mm lug-to-lug, it sits beautifully on the wrist. It feels classic without feeling small, and intentional without feeling precious. The 11.8mm thickness including the crystal keeps it slim enough to slide under a cuff, but substantial enough that it doesn’t feel fragile.

Case finishing

The Héron Mirabel Cigar Club is 316L stainless steel and is largely polished with crisp chamfering. The fluted crown with the sapphire cabochon is a small detail that really sells the whole concept. It’s not loud, but it adds just enough personality. The caseback is more decorative than most people will ever need, but I kind of love that about it. It feels like Héron giving themselves permission to be a little indulgent. The “world-timer” layout with the hand-painted enamel centrepiece is a little like a secret for the wearer.

Full lume

And then there’s the Mirabel’s “party trick,” which is still one of my favourite ideas in modern watch design. Under that enamel dial is a full layer of C3 Super-LumiNova. When the lights go out, the entire dial glows. Not the hands. Not the markers. But everything underneath. Softly. Evenly. It’s not a tactical, torch-like glow. It’s more like ambient lighting.

It’s somewhat at odds with how dressy the watch looks during the day, which is kind of the point. By daylight, this feels like a refined, slightly retro dress watch. At night, it turns into something quietly dramatic. Héron compares it to a cigar catching flame, and honestly, it’s a metaphor that actually lands. But no matter what, you have to appreciate the quality application on the enamel.

Wearability

On the wrist, the Héron Mirabel Cigar Club Edition comfortable and easy. The included Delugs leather strap is excellent, and it immediately makes the watch feel complete. It’s one of those straps you’d happily buy separately, so having it included here is a nice touch. The 20mm width keeps everything nicely proportioned and adds to that vintage-leaning feel. Add in the premium travel case and signed microfiber cloth, and the whole package feels carefully considered.

Final Thoughts

For the price, this watch punches well above what you’d expect in terms of originality. You’re not just buying a colour variant of an existing model. You’re buying a different mood. A different personality. It still has the Mirabel DNA, but it feels like a late-night version of the same character. In the end, you get a GMT-powered dress watch, an enamel dial, full-lume execution, thoughtful finishing, and a genuinely distinct design language.

What I like most about the Mirabel Cigar Club Edition is that it doesn’t feel like it’s trying to impress anyone. It isn’t chasing specs, hype, or nostalgia for its own sake. It just wants to be interesting. Warm. Slightly theatrical. And quietly fun.

In a sea of sterile, hyper-minimal watches, something that leans into character like this feels pretty refreshing.

Pricing & Availablity

The Mirabel Cigar Club Edition is available from the brand website as of January 13th for $960 CAD (or $699 USD). Héron describes the Cigar Club as a “Special Edition,” which isn’t a hard-limited piece, but it’s also not something that will be produced endlessly. It sits in that sweet spot that boutique brands often do best.

  1. Would have to say this watch did capture a theatrical, almost mystical -kind of-wow…what is this ?…feeling. Then, as the article unfolds- one realizes that is what this little beauty is meant to do. Is it an old memory, a tantalizing, smoky hint at something you think you remember from somewhere? The wristband is perfect with the dial. Love the underlying exact colour in each. Lovely watch. Splendid photos and article.. A Sunday afternoon treat.
