The Next Chapter: YEMA introduces the Superman Swiss Edition

Swiss Made

YEMA announces the release of the Superman Swiss Edition, marking a significant step in the brand’s evolving production strategy for 2025. This latest iteration of the iconic dive watch remains faithful to the original Superman reference 53.00.16 from the 1970s while incorporating modern Swiss watchmaking expertise.

A Faithful Reissue with a Swiss Precision Upgrade

The Superman Swiss Edition maintains the distinctive elements that defined the original, including a 990-feet water-resistant straight-lug steel case, the patented bezel-lock mechanism, an aluminum bezel with a retro aesthetic, and a double-domed crystal. The hallmark shovel-shaped sweep second hand further reinforces the vintage appeal. These models are now powered by the Sellita SW200-1 automatic movement and are manufactured and assembled by a Swiss partner in Biel/Bienne, Switzerland—just 70 km from YEMA’s workshops in Morteau, France.

Available in 39mm and 41mm case sizes, the Superman Swiss Edition launched on February 21, 2025, with immediate delivery.

A Strategic Shift Towards Manufacturing Excellence

The introduction of the Superman Swiss Edition aligns with YEMA’s refined production strategy, which prioritizes quality control, optimized work methodologies, and enhanced customer satisfaction. As part of this transformation, YEMA is shifting to a “push production” model, ensuring that components are manufactured in advance based on sales forecasts. This approach allows for improved efficiency, streamlined quality control, and a reduction in reliance on pre-orders.

Balancing Swiss and French Watchmaking Heritage

YEMA remains dedicated to its identity as a brand offering both in-house manufacture calibres and accessible Swiss-powered models. While the company will focus primarily on producing its French Manufacture calibres (CMM.10 / CMM.20 / CMM.30), the YEMA2000 and YEMA3000 movements will gradually be phased out. Moving forward, models previously equipped with these calibres will be replaced by watches featuring Swiss-made movements, ensuring consistency in quality while maintaining an accessible price point.

To facilitate this transition, YEMA has partnered with a Swiss watchmaker who will oversee the production and assembly of models equipped with Swiss calibres. This collaboration enables the brand to maintain its commitment to precision craftsmanship while allowing YEMA’s in-house watchmakers to concentrate on developing advanced complications and new Manufacture calibers.

An Optimized Approach for a Stronger Future

YEMA’s strategic shift marks the end of its crowdfunding initiatives, such as Kickstarter projects, and moves towards a self-financed R&D model. The company has also taken steps to implement ISO 9001 certification for continuous quality improvement and is committed to enhancing the overall customer experience through an upgraded loyalty program and an improved after-sales service structure.

With the introduction of the Superman Swiss Edition, YEMA presents a watch that respects its heritage while embracing the brand’s refined production philosophy. This launch not only showcases the brand’s commitment to craftsmanship and accessibility but also sets the foundation for a new era of efficiency and innovation.
